THE FIRST BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF RADIO EVANGELIUM

The First Meeting of the Board of Directors of Radio Evangelium Bamenda held in the Conference Room of the Archbishop's House on Tuesday 10 November 2015 under the Chairmanship of the the Archbishop of Bamenda. The Board of Directors is the highest decision making body of the Radio and is made up of 21 members carefully chosen by the Archdiocesan College of Consultors and ratified by the Archbishop. 4 of these members could not attend this maiden meeting because of some prior commitments they were engaged in. The Board meeting began at 9.20am.After an opening prayer by Fr Michael Kintang, Principal of Sacred Heart, the Archbishop, His Grace Cornelius Fontem Esua welcomed all the members and briefly explained the importance of the Board of Directors for Radio Evangelium, the instrument of Evangelization for the Archdiocese of Bamenda. During the meeting discussion  focused on three essential issues –  a clear definition of the reason for and uniqueness of a Catholic Radio; a well structured Organigramme for the Radio and the Job Description of the Board of Directors. The Archbishop was unequivocal in stating that Radio Evangelium is meant for Evangelization and therefore all its workers and programmes must reflect this mission of the Radio.   The Board drew up an organigramme  of the Radio with the Local Ordinary as the proprietor; the Board of Directors; the Director of Communications; the Station Manager and 4 Heads of Services to  be appointed by the Board of Directors. Finally, the Job description of the Board of Directors was well spelled out. Then the Station Manager of Radio Evangelium, gave a historical growth of the radio, the composition and conduct of workers, challenges and some suggestions. All Board members  agreed that Radio Evangelium is doing well so far but that everything must be done to foster collaboration and team work. Before the meeting rose, three Committees were formed, each with a specific homework as follows:
Committee to draw up a 3 Year Strategic Plan Mr Ngwa Damasius; Dr Zachee Ngoko; Sr Colette McCann;Mrs Mary Mofor

Committee to draw up Job Descriptions:Mrs Prescilla Agendia; Mr Christopher Forgwe;Mrs Chindo Emilia

Committee to draw up a Sustainability Plan for Radio Evangelium:Mrs Emilia Chindo;Mrs Mary Mofor; Mrs Prescilla Agendia; Mr Patrick Visas; Dr Zachee Ngoko.

The Director of Communications and the Station Manager are ex officio members of each of these Committees expected to present their suggestions at the next meeting of the Board. It was also agreed that the formation of workers of  Radio Evangelium in Church jargon and vocabulary be stepped up. The Archbishop closed the meeting with a word of deep gratitude and appreciation. He thanked the Board members for the sacrifices they are willing to make on behalf of the Church in the Archdiocese of Bamenda.  The meeting ended at 3.08pm with a prayer from Mgr Lucas Sanosi and the final blessing by the Archbishop. The next meeting of the Board of Directors has been slated for the last week of January 2016 to establish the  Budget, Strategic Plan, Job descriptions of workers and the Programmes, for the 2016.
